WHAT: Crime fiction writer and editor. Tarot enthusiast. Petter of dogs. Solidly Gen-X.

WHERE: In the shadow of the prison on the hill.

WHY: That’s the question, isn’t it? I blogged a lot in the early days, back when MySpace was fading, and Facebook wasn’t quite a thing yet. Over the years, I abandoned it in favor of pithy tweets and heavy-handed Facebook posts about politics.

I can’t say that social media has run its course for me, but its attraction is waning, and I know I’m not alone. I still have things to say, and having never truly put an effort into writing a newsletter, I decided to give it a real try.

What to write about? It’s hard to distill everything that interests me into one snappy newsletter title, and I’m in awe of the people who manage it. One thing is certain, however—if I don’t start, I’ll never find my voice on this medium, and it’s something I’d like to do.

I’ve decided this newsletter will focus on my two strongest interests: crime fiction (writing and reading) and using tarot cards as a journaling prompt for self-care and personal growth to clear space in your brain to make room for creativity.
